The Hale 5 Mile Easter Road Race Another Runaway Success

Hundreds of runners pounded the roads around Hale Village during the annual Hale 5 Mile Easter Road Race.

Easter Sunday - 27th March - saw 490 runners at the Start line as the Lord Mayor of Hale - Paul Turton, got them on their starters orders

This years race was organised by Interval Races, from Hale Village.

The Lord Mayor started the race at 9:30am with 490 runners poised at the starting line.

Villagers - and runners families gathered at vantage points around the park entrance and on Town Lane, to cheer on the runners.

The 5 mile course included a short detour out of Hale Park - along the High Street, into Cocklade Lane into Pepper Street and onto Town Lane. Once on Town Lane the runners got into their stride along Hale Gate Road - towards Halebank and onto Halebank Road. It was then a sharp left onto Ramsbrook Lane - back into the village to the High Street and the last few hundred metres into the park to the finish line.

As runners crossed the finish line, they were greeted and thanked by the Lord Mayor and Hale Parish Council Chairperson - Alison Jones.

The race was completed by all runners within 1 hour and 20 minutes, the first runners crossed the line around the 25 minute mark.

After the race runners were presented with a free Easter Egg followed by the Lord Mayor of Hale and Interval Race Management, presenting the runners with their awards.
