Passenger Numbers Take Off At LJLA
Passenger growth has continued at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) throughout 2016 after a series of extra flights chartered to take football fans to the Europa League final last month helped boost numbers.
According to new figures, in excess of 40,000 more passengers used the airport last month helping to boost total passenger numbers for the year to date to almost 1.9 million, which is also 250,000 more than during the first five months of 2015.
As well as the impact of a number of new services from existing airlines which started earlier in the year, Flybe's weekly departure to Newquay commenced in May while the start of Thomson Airways' summer 2016 weekly flight to Palma also began.
In addition, 14 extra flights chartered to take Liverpool FC fans over to Basel for the Europa League Final added to the growing numbers of airport users.
Robin Tudor, head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said he is confident that the growth experienced so far "will continue throughout 2016".
