Scam Phone Calls

March 26, 2015

Alert message sent 24/03/2015 16:07:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Please be aware there have been further reports of persons making phone calls pretending to be from legitimate companies - in these cases Microsoft and Talk Talk - while trying to gain access remotely to the computers/laptops at the address. Most recent call was in Hale Village yesterday. The caller will state they are from a company such as the above then tell you that there are problems on your computer. If you are asked to press the Windows key (this often just shows a flag logo on the lower set of keyboard keys) and "R" then you maybe about to become a victim. Please DO NOT enter into any conversation with these people, put the phone down and report the matter straight away to your telephone service provider and to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via website www.actionfraud.police.uk
