Hale Post Office Could Close
February 16, 2016
At the February meeting of Hale Parish Council on Monday night – 15th February, it was reported, that Hale Village Sub Post Office could be in danger of closing!
We have spoken to John – the Post Master on 16th February - and he has explained the situation, that it’s possible the Post Office want's to cut several over the counter services and/or move the service within half a mile of the village.
If this were to happen, it would leave the village without access to many of the Post Office services - that some of our village residents depend on, especially the elderly and those who have no transport.
The village post office is an integral part of any small village, especially here in Hale, where villagers have access to several of the most needed services it offers.
The Village Post Office also stocks sundries, such as bread, soft drinks and tinned goods - along with an outlet for villagers to play the National Lottery.
For many many years, John the Postmaster - has offered the use of the outside of the building, for the village crib at Christmas time, along with helping process the thousands of Army Shoe/Comfort Boxes that are prepared in the village - that are then sent out to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq etc!
For those unsure of the situation, are invited to ask John, he is more than happy to explain, and receive your support.
At the moment, negotiations are taking place.
Please support John and his family at the Village Post Office.
